Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how HouseWise collects, uses and protects your personal information, and the choices you have about it.

How we handle your data

We take privacy seriously. This Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and the rights you have under UK data protection law (including UK GDPR).

This page is a general overview and does not replace tailored legal advice. If you have any questions, please contact us using the details below.

1. Who is responsible for your data?

HouseWise is the "data controller" for personal data you share with us in connection with our services. That means we decide how and why your data is used.

If you have questions about this Policy or want to exercise your rights, you can contact us at:

2. What information we collect

We may collect and process the following types of personal data:

  • Contact details – name, email address, phone number.

  • Property details – address, type of property, number of bedrooms, age of property and relevant notes about condition.

  • Service information – bookings, visit history, reports, photos and Fix Requests.

  • Payment information – limited details needed to process payments (we usually use third-party payment processors and do not store full card details ourselves).

  • Website & app usage – basic analytics such as pages visited, device type and approximate location, via cookies and similar technologies.

3. How and why we use your data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To provide services – booking visits, carrying out inspections, completing Fix Requests and preparing reports.

  • To manage your account – including your subscription, MyHome Hub access, visit history and preferences.

  • To communicate with you – appointment confirmations, reminders, updates, service notifications and responses to queries.

  • To improve our services – reviewing how services are used, and improving our processes, website and communications.

  • To meet legal and regulatory requirements – for example, keeping appropriate business records.

We rely on various lawful bases under UK GDPR, including "contract" (to perform our services), "legitimate interests" (to run and improve HouseWise) and "consent" (for certain types of optional communication).

4. Marketing preferences

We may occasionally send you updates about HouseWise services, new plans or offers. We will:

  • Only send you marketing where the law allows us to do so (for example, with your consent or for existing customers on an opt-out basis).

  • Always give you a clear way to opt out in every marketing email.

Service messages (such as appointment reminders or important updates about your plan) are not marketing and you may still receive these even if you opt out of marketing emails.

5. Sharing your data

We never sell your personal data. We may share it with:

  • Trusted service providers – such as IT platforms, payment processors, email providers and scheduling tools, who help us run our business.

  • Partner trades – where you ask us to help coordinate specialist work (for example, electricians or plumbers). We will only share relevant information needed for the job.

  • Authorities or regulators – if required by law or to protect our legal rights (for example, in a dispute or fraud investigation).

Where we use third-party providers, we aim to ensure they respect your privacy and keep your data secure.

6. International transfers

Some of our technology providers may store or process data outside the UK (for example, in the EU or US). Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms recognised by UK data protection law.

7. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes set out in this Policy, including:

  • For as long as you are an active customer or subscriber.

  • For a period afterwards, to answer queries, maintain business records and meet legal, tax or accounting requirements.

When data is no longer needed, we aim to delete it or anonymise it safely.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.

  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

  • Ask us to delete certain data (in specific circumstances).

  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing.

  • Withdraw consent where we rely on consent (for example, for some marketing).

To exercise your rights, please contact us at hello@housewise.care. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

9. Cookies & tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make our website work, understand how it's used and improve the experience over time. For more details on the types of cookies we use and how to manage them, please see our Cookie Policy.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page. If we make material changes that affect your rights or how we use your data, we will let you know where appropriate.
